'Tis NOT the season to be jolly!

First page of the first issue of Marvel Team-Up there. I don't want to knock a classic, BUT in what world is "Have Yourself a Sandman little Christmas" considered even remotely humorous? I mean, that's not a pun, is it? If they'd gone with Frosty the Sandman or Sandy Claus is coming to town I could've swallowed it, but: Have yourself a Sandman little Christmas? Seriously? WTF? Better still, this Yuletide tale appeared in a comic dated March 1972! Epic Fail!

Haven't even thought about that story for many years but I remember reading that at the age of about nine and thinking it was just about the most moving comic i'd ever read.

I have no intentions whatsoever of ever rereading it again though...

It is quite moving. The whole (SPOILERS!)thing with Sandman and his sick mother and all. There's also that crazy part where he ties The Human Torch and Spidey up and throws them in a water tank to drown. They escape, find Sandman and act like nothing has happened because he's visiting his sick mum. But he's just tried to drown them, for fuck's sake! Can't believe they don't smash him AND his bed-ridden mother to pieces after that.
